Me hizo pensar en una novela de Stendhal hecha película. La escena inicial, con Alida Valli escobillándose esa cascada de cabellos dorados, es para mí una de las más eróticas de toda la historia del cine.
MURIERON CON LAS BOTAS PUESTAS (They died with their boots on, Raoul Walsh, 1942)
Afiebró con apetito de aventuras mi juventud. La volví a ver hace poco, y que me siguió pareciendo una obra maestra.
CIUDADANO KANE (Citizen Kane, Orson Welles, 1941)
La primera película que vi que me pareció comparable en profundidad, complejidad, inteligencia y creación de formas a una gran novela. La he vuelto a ver por lo menos unas 5 veces y siempre con la misma admiración.
LES ENFANTS DU PARADIS (Marcel Carné, 1943)
Barroca, teatral, decadente, exquisitamente escrita y dirigida, es para mí la obra maestra absoluta del cine francés.
EL VERDUGO (Luis G. Berlanga, 1963)
Una obra maestra de humor negro y sutileza crítica a la que no se ha reconocido la extraordinaria hazaña que significó realizarla en el tiempo y lugar donde nació.
