DEAD MAN (Jim Jarmusch, 1995)
Porque esta película, que me hubiera encantado ser capaz de dirigir, me sirve para resumir de forma bastarda todos los westerns de Ford y Hawks que me educaron los sábados por la tarde, mezclados con un toque de Buster Keaton. Por cierto: maravillosa la anécdota de Hawks respondiendo que su mejor película era una que dirigió John Ford.
LA MAMAN ET LA PUTAIN (Jean Eustache, 1973)
Porque todos los días deberíamos salir a la calle y recordar a la gente que nos crucemos por los bares que Jean Eustache es uno de los cineastas más grandes cineastas de la historia. Después, habría que brindar por su salud.
UN DÌA DE CAMPO (Partie de campagne, Jean Renoir. 1936)
Porque el cine puede ser feliz y nosotros también. Porque tiene una duración extraña y la gente creía que estaba inacabada. Porque Jean Renoir me sirve para resumir a todos los Jean que a su vez se bastan para resumir lo mejor de la historia del cine: Vigo, Cocteau, Rouch, Godard y Cassavetes.
LA VIDA EN UN HILO (Edgar Neville, 1945)
Porque el cine español existe, pese a quién pese, y este título sirve para definir muy bien sus contingencias. Porque estamos en un país tan burro que Buñuel tuvo que ser mexicano y francés. Berlanga se hizo austrohúngaro y Arkadin, apátrida. Neville salió por la tangente y se hizo norteamericano de Berlanga del Duero.
EDIPO REY (Edipo Re, Pier Paolo Pasolini, 1967)
Porque en esta película, PPP filmó una persecución como nadie, y porque un centauro nos enseñaba que el realismo (incluso en su acepción más Neo) suele encontrar su verdad al cruzarse con el mito.
Y hasta aquí puedo llegar, no sé cómo colar más películas sin hacer trampas.
